It looks like some sort of portal. Where is this?

Well, that's difficult to say. The sign outside isn't in a language I understand. Another part of the building is a bar, but I can't figure out what this part is supposed to be.

It looks like what one might see after having too many drinks at said bar.

The glowing is a bit ominous. Then again everything in this blighted city glows.

All the glowing is rather distasteful. It's as though whoever created this city was terrified of the dark, don't you think?

But you may be onto something, Fenris. Could this strange area be a deterrent? Something to remind patrons not to drink too much?

That was more or less what I was thinking. Like a brightly colored animal trying to warn off predators.

That, or it's acting as a lure.

Ah, hello.

It stopped doing strange things. I had thought the implant was connected to something else...but it would seem I was wrong as it remained unaffected.

I can no longer find things that I could in New Amsterdam, though. I suppose that's a good thing.

That... sounds like a success, I think? Catherine said it'd failed, but perhaps something was undone regardless...

Anyway, if it was there without your consent, there's no telling what else it was putting into your brain. It's for the better it's been deactivated.

It still functions in some capacity. But nothing that requires a "connection". Though I agree. It was doing strange things to me that I could not explain, and it does those things no longer.

[Like allowing him to suddenly read? That might sound like a good thing to most, but it was honestly unsettling. He never thought he would be glad to have to use the "text to speech" function.]

Everyone deserves to keep their agency. It's no trouble.

Besides, you helped me, too. I was only granted Catherine for a particular assignment: I don't know why or how I arrived with her in tow, but I did. Using her to remove the implant shook some of the dust off.

That is...troubling. Could someone have been watching you long enough to know about her — to know to bring her here with you, for whatever reason.
